Getting Started
New to running your site? This page walks you from the invitation email in your inbox to a working daily routine: accept your invitation, secure your account, find your way around the admin area, and get your site configured and live in your first week.
Accept your admin invitation
Your admin account starts with an invitation email, sent either by whoever set your site up or by an existing Admin on your team (see Invite a new admin). The email contains a personal acceptance link — invitations expire, so don't sit on it.
- Click the link in the email. An Accept Admin Invitation page opens on your site, verifies the link, and shows who invited you and the email address the invitation was sent to.
- Fill in your First Name, Last Name, and a Password. A live checklist confirms the password rules — at least 12 characters, containing a letter and a number — and the confirm field warns if your two entries don't match.
- Click Create Admin Account, then Continue to Login on the success screen.
If you see Invitation Invalid instead of the form, the link has expired or been revoked — ask your inviter to send a fresh one. More cases in the invitation troubleshooting section.
Log in for the first time
Sign in on your site's login page (/login) with the email address the invitation was sent to and the password you just created. You land on your site's public homepage, signed in.
Once you've set up two-factor authentication (next step), every sign-in adds a second screen asking for the 6-digit code from your authenticator app — it submits itself when you've typed all six digits, and there's a Use backup code instead option if you've lost your device.
Set up two-factor authentication (required)
Admin accounts must have two-factor authentication before the admin area will open — the first time you try to enter it, you're redirected to Security Settings (under your account pages) with a banner explaining that 2FA is required for admin access.
- Install an authenticator app if you don't have one — Google Authenticator, Authy, and 1Password all work.
- On Security Settings, click Enable 2FA, then Continue.
- Scan the QR code with your authenticator app (on a phone, tap the link below the code instead).
- Save your backup codes somewhere safe — they're your way back in if you lose your authenticator.
- Enter the 6-digit code from the app and click Verify & Enable.
Keep the app handy day to day: beyond sign-in, the most sensitive admin actions (role changes, password resets, viewing bank details) prompt for a fresh code — see Step-up authentication.
Open the admin area
With 2FA enabled, you can get in two ways:
- The shield button — as a signed-in admin, a floating shield button sits in the bottom-right corner of every public page. Click it to open the admin dashboard; on a desktop, hovering it fans out shortcuts to common admin pages.
- Go direct — browse to
/adminon your site.
To get back to your public site from the admin area, use Go to Site at the bottom of the sidebar — it opens in a new tab so you don't lose your place.
Understand your role
Every account has one role. Accepting an invitation gives you a full Admin account — the top role, with every permission. The other staff roles, Shop Manager and Marketing, carry narrower permissions, and an Admin can change your role after you've accepted if that's the plan for you (see Change a user's role).
Two things follow from your role:
- Anything you can't do is simply hidden. Missing sidebar links, buttons, or tabs aren't a bug — your role doesn't include them. The full permission matrix is in Roles and permissions.
- Finance figures are gated too. The Sales, Profit & Loss, Cash Liability and Payment Methods widgets only appear for roles with financial analytics access — see Who sees the finance widgets.
Take a tour of the admin area
The sidebar is organised into four sections. Every link only appears if your role includes it.
| Section | What's in it |
|---|---|
| Overview | Dashboard — your live at-a-glance view; Reports — on-demand revenue, order and wallet reports; Website Analytics — visitor traffic; AI Insights — predictions and recommendations. |
| Management | Competitions and their tags; Orders; Withdrawals; ID Verification; Users (including Account Flags); Referrals; Winners; Draws; Responsible Play. |
| Content | Media Library; Instant Wins; Winner Gallery; Pages and Menus; Marketing; Email Templates; Promo Codes. |
| System | Settings; Webhooks & Push Notifications; System Logs. |
Worth knowing from day one:
- Amber badges are your work queues. Counts appear next to Withdrawals (payout requests waiting), ID Verification (submissions to review), Users (account flags to review), Winners (prizes awaiting fulfilment), Draws (competitions waiting to be drawn) and Responsible Play (alerts). They update automatically as you work — a clear sidebar means nothing is waiting on you.
- Search instead of clicking. Press Ctrl+K (⌘K on a Mac) anywhere in the admin area to open the command palette and jump straight to a page.
- Make it yours. Collapse the sidebar with Ctrl+B (⌘B), switch between light and dark mode with the sun/moon toggle at the bottom of the sidebar, and rearrange the dashboard itself — see Customise the dashboard layout.
- What's New — the bell next to the Dashboard title lists recent platform updates, and opens automatically when you sign in with unseen ones. See Catch up on platform updates.
Work through your first-week checklist
If you're the one setting the site up (rather than joining an existing team), work through these in order:
- Set your site identity — name, logo, tagline, and contact details in the Settings General section. The Contact Email receives admin notifications, so use an address you monitor. See Set your site name, logo and contact details.
- Link your free entry page. Competitions must offer an alternative entry method — point the Free Entry Page picker at your postal entry instructions. See Link your free entry (postal) page.
- Make it look like your brand — colours, font, button and card styles, all with a live preview. See Restyle your site.
- Set your commercial rules — checkout behaviour (ticket reservation time, verified-email gate, minimum card payment, your gateway fees so P&L is accurate) and withdrawal rules (limits, bank details collection). See Configure checkout and Configure withdrawals. Decide whether to require ID verification before withdrawals or prize claims, and consider opting in to the UK Voluntary Code.
- Invite your team. Give each colleague their own login rather than sharing yours — every action is then attributable. See Invite a new admin, then narrow roles as needed.
- Create your first competition. Use the four-step wizard, keep it in Draft while you add instant win prizes and imagery, preview it, then publish. See Create a competition, Add instant win prizes and Publish a draft competition.
- Test, then clear the decks. Place test orders to check the whole journey. If the reset feature has been enabled for your site, you can wipe the test data before real customers arrive.
- Go live. If you've been building behind a countdown or maintenance screen, switch to Site Live — or let a launch countdown do it for you. See Take the site offline or show a launch countdown.
Settle into the daily rhythm
Once you're live, most days follow the same loop:
- Start on the Dashboard. Pick your reporting period and scan the widgets: Unactioned Winners, Pending Orders, the decline rate, and Prize Fulfilment ageing are the ones that demand action. If a red account flags banner is showing, review it before paying out any prizes.
- Run any waiting draws. The badge next to Draws counts competitions that have ended and need a winner picked.
- Action your winners. Work through the Winners page — chase prize choices, update fulfilment, add tracking — until the badge clears.
- Process orders and payouts. Handle refunds and stuck payments in Orders, and review withdrawal requests in Wallets & Withdrawals.
- Clear the review queues. Check ID Verification submissions and any Responsible Play alerts.
The sidebar badges make this self-managing: when they're at zero, you're up to date. Once a week or so, step back with Reports for the financial picture, and plan your next competition before the current one ends.
Where to go next
- Something not behaving? Every page in these docs ends with a Troubleshooting section for its area.
- Want your site in your pocket? Connect the mobile companion app to monitor things on the go.
- The rest of the documentation is organised by admin page — start from the sidebar of this docs site, or from the overview.
